Surplus earned is returned to members through dividends, competitive rates on savings and loans and reinvested in programmes that contribute to nation-building. The G.U.T. Credit Union began as the brainchild of Denise De Coteau who, in 1977, thought it necessary for teachers to have a financial cooperative. However, it was not until April 3rd 1983, after months of diligent and untiring efforts in framing, reframing, refining and redefining policies and by-laws that the credit union was finally registered. Mr. Thaddeus Mc Ewen was elected as the first president of the credit union. It is worthy to note that 1983 was a critical and pivotal period in the history of Grenada. Therefore the birthing of a financial organization at that time was indeed a tremendous challenge. The G.U.T Co-operative Credit Union Ltd, initially formed to serve teachers, opened its bond on 15th April, 2004 to include salaried members of the general public. The GUTCU has since welcomed Police and GCNA Credit Unions as part of its expanded family. Today, we have assets of over $190 million and our membership has grown to more than 12,000.

The Sogebank recently acquired the assets and liabilities of Royal Bank of Canada. Sogebank managers have gradually developed subsidiaries that can meet specific customer needs, thus giving birth to the Sogebank Group , a natural extension of Sogebank - commercial bank. The Sogefac , Haitian Societe Generale Factoring AG, specializing in factoring and consumer credit, was inaugurated June 30, 1989. The Sogecarte , Haitian Societe Generale SA Credit Cards, specializing in credit cards (Visa and MasterCard), was established on 30 June 1989. Created on April 23, 1993, the Sogebank Foundation is a non-profit institution aiming to promote philanthropy within the Haitian private sector and to mobilize financial, material and human resources in order to concretize initiatives of collective interest. The Foundation is the symbol of the social commitment of the Sogebank Group. The Sogesol , Societe Generale Haitian Solidarity, specializing in microcredit, was founded on 9 November 2000. the Sogexpres s , was inaugurated on October 26, 2002 in order to facilitate financial exchanges between Haitians and far. Guyana Americas Merchant Bank Inc., formerly Guyana Finance Corporation Limited, was incorporated as a limited liability company on May 22, 1995 under the Companies Act 1991 of May 27, 1997 By Special Resolution on July 30, 1998 the Company's name was changed to Guyana Americas Merchant Bank Inc. The Company was licensed by the Bank of Guyana under section 6 (2) of the Financial Institutions Act 1995 to carry on non-depository financial business in Guyana with the exception of Trust business effective March 16, 2001 and opened for business on June 26, 2001. The Company, having been Registered under section 47 (1) of the Securities Industry Act 1998 to carry on Business as a Broker with effect from July 16, 2003 was admitted to membership of the Guyana Association of Securities Companies and Intermediaries Incorporated in accordance with Rule 3.04 Guyana Americas Merchant Bank Inc. is a subsidiary of Guyana Bank For Trade and Industry.

GPSU is a registered NGO and a recognised and established Trade Union that represent and negoitate for public servants rights, working conditions, wages and salaries, etc.

GASCI is the abbreviation for The Guyana Association of Securities Companies and Intermediaries Inc. This company is the local stock exchange that organises and supervises the stock market in Guyana. GASCI consists of four member firms which trade (i.e. provide broker services for customers who wish to buy and sell shares) on the stock market and these are Trust Company (Guyana) Ltd, Guyana Americas Merchant Bank Inc, Beharry Stockbrokers Ltd and Hand-in-Hand Trust Corporation Inc (formerly GNCB Trust Corporation Inc). Trust Company (Guyana) Ltd, Beharry Stockbrokers Ltd and Hand-in-Hand Trust Corporation Inc are also represented on the Board of Directors of GASCI. The member firms of GASCI are registered as Brokers with the Guyana Securities Council.
