Laborie
The initial operations of the Credit Union were conducted only on Saturday mornings at the shop of Mrs. Vida Darcheville and later at the Laborie Village Council Office. In 1979, the business was relocated to the Laborie Community Centre, where it remained until 1992. That year, with the assistance of Mr. Allan Renee it acquired its own building and moved to new premises on Allan Louisy Street. In 1999, the Laborie Credit Union opened a branch in Augier. The Laborie Co-operative Credit Union was established in August 1976 and registered on 22nd May, 1981. The idea was conceptualized after a number of community consultations and the recognition that the community needed to mobilize its financial and human resources on a self-help basis, for the development and improvement of the quality of life of the people of Laborie.

Choiseul
The idea of a Credit Union commenced in the year 1962 with Father Ludovic Chauvet who was the catholic parish priest of Choiseul at the time. The priest encouraged thrift amongst Catholics securing their funds for them so that they can use these funds in difficult times. Every Sunday after mass, persons would take their monies to the priest for safe keeping. The priest would keep records on the amount of funds belonging to each person. The priest then invited other persons from the Catholic Church to form a group to manage these funds. Most of those persons are deceased now but because of their initiative, there is a credit union in Choiseul today. The society began operating as an organization on 08th December, 1963 and was registered on 6th October, 1970.

There was a time in Saint Lucia’s past where the average, working class civil servant was not very welcome by the large multinational banks from the United Kingdom and Canada, on the island. Even as early as the 1960s, it was almost impossible for a Saint Lucian householder of modest means to get a loan to purchase land, buy farming equipment or a home, or start a business. Then some patriotic citizens rebelled against the system and led by Bernis Jn Baptiste, they founded the Credit Union, based in a small office on 79 Chaussee Road. The location of that first office became the Bernis Jn Baptiste Building and the beginning of a solid legacy of caring not only for the average, working class public servant in Saint Lucia but also the communities from where they come. Our Vision: To be the responsive and premier financial institution which enhances your life. Our Mission: Jannou Credit Union is member owned and dedicated to providing convenient, quality and personalized service while maintaining financial stability. We seek to provide ultimate customer satisfaction by a highly trained group of motivated volunteers and staff who are supported by automation and technology. We will undertake to enhance our members' financial health and quality of life. We will engage in demonstrable corporate social responsibility.
